New World "Translation"
"He (God) does not impart his Holy Spirit and understanding and appreciation of his Word apart from his visible Organization."
~The Watch Tower (July 1, 1965) pg. 39
Watch carefully what is being said here, for it is a dangerous idea that stems back to the depraved dark ages.
Apart from the Society you cannot correctly understand or interpret the Word of God... They become your mediator between God and man. It is impossible to understand God's love letter without interpretation from the Society. If you doubt this, here their own words.
"The Bible is an organizational book and belongs to the Christian congregation as a whole, not to individuals, regardless of how sincerely they may believe that they can interpret the Bible. For this reason the Bible cannot be properly understood without Jehovah's visible organization in mind."
No individual outside of the Society can accurately interpret the Bible. Their words, not mine.
The protestant reformation and the whole movement itself began because the Catholic Church refused to allow the common person the ability to read the Bible for themselves.
So what is the Watch Tower Society's interpretation? They have their own version called the "New World Translation". This translation is the version all Jehovah's Witnesses are to use, and the differences between this and other translations are small, but the differences are very powerful differences.
The question I must ask is this: Is their translation founded upon scholarship or, like their founder, is it founded upon forgeries? Again, let's look at their own words while under oath.
Frederick W. Franz, head representative of the translation committee and 4th Watch Tower Society's president.
Examiner : Have you also made yourself familiar with Hebrew?
Franz : Yes
Examiner : So you have a substantial linguistical apparatus at your command?
Franz : Yes, for use in my biblical work.
Examiner : I think you are able to read and follow the Bible in Hebrew, Greek, Latin, Spanish, Portugese, German, and French?
Franz : Yes.
Later in the same cross - examination
Examiner : You, yourself read and speak Hebrew, do you?
Franz : I do not speak Hebrew.
Examiner : You do not?
Franz : No.
Examiner : Can you, yourself, translate that Hebrew?
Franz : Which?
Examiner : That fourth verse of the second chapter of Genesis.
Franz : You mean here?
Examiner : Yes.
Franz : No.
~Pursur's Proof of the Cross-examination held on Wednesday, November 24, 1954 (pg. 7 paragraph A-B)
Asking a Hebrew professor at Biola University if the 4th verse of the 2nd chapter of Genesis is a particularly difficult verse to translate, the professor said, he would never pass a 1st year Hebrew student who could not translate that verse.
Determine the veracity of the New World Translation's scholarship for yourself...
