Marxism
Carl Marx, author of the first Communist Manifesto, is the man many consider the founder of two distinct classes of philosophers: the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks. Those are what they came to be known as in the Russian Revolution of 1917, we know them as the Communists and the Socialists.
Our culture sees Communism and Socialism as extremely different, and due to bad history there is a reason they would like for there to be a difference, but in reality the Communists and the Socialists want the same thing. They only differ in the measures they are willing to do to make the change they want to see. The communists will use any force necessary and want to see the change happen through revolution. The socialists are more patient and work within the current system for slow, methodical change.
Carl Marx’s idea, where all this got it’s fruition, was tied directly to the evolution of history. Marx studied history and began to see a pattern emerge, a struggle between the rich, the poor, and the middle classes. Marx made a prediction that, as feudalism “evolved” into capitalism, capitalism will evolve into the next step in the process of our evolution, a completely classless society he called Communism. Marx believed the Socialism, or equality of circumstances, would lead capitalism into communism.
Marxism, as I will call it, not only assumes to be humanistic, but has all the truth claims to be called a religion.
Theology - Atheism (No God)
Philosophy - Dialectical Materialism (opposing forces causing change)
Ethics - Proletariat Morality (Morality defined by the working class)
Biology - Darwinian/Punctuated Evolution (Evolved by chance)
Psychology - Behaviorism (Social influence on man)
Sociology - Abolition of Home, Church and State (Eradication)
Law - Positive Law (Law of the land)
Politics - New World Order (Stateless Society)
Economics - Socialism (Equality of circumstances)
History - Historical Materialism (History is matter in motion and determined)
Who is God? There is no God.
Who is man? In a class struggle.
How did we get here? Evolution.
What is man’s purpose? To end class struggle by equality and absence of individualism.
Marxism is a humanist religion at heart, but is distinct enough to stand on its own.
