Doctrine Strange
1. God is physical.
Mormons don’t really believe in pure spirit. They believe God has a physical body over and above the spiritual.
Parley P. Pratt - “Each of these Gods, including Jesus Christ and his Father, being in possession of not merely an organized spirit, but also a glorious immortal body of flesh and bones…”
2. Confusion over the virgin birth of Jesus
As such, Poor Mary! They believe Jesus was conceived in the normal manner. But Mary was betrothed to Joseph and she claimed she had never been with another, so… either she was a liar, or she didn’t know she had been raped…
Brigham Young - “When the Virgin Mary conceived the child Jesus, the Father had begotten him in his own likeness. He was not begotten by the Holy Ghost. And who was the Father? He is the first of the human family; and when he took a tabernacle [body], it was begotten by his Father in heaven, after the same manner as the tabernacles of Cain, Abel, and the rest of the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve...Jesus, our elder brother, was begotten in the flesh by the same character that was in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in Heaven.”
What is he talking about? Sex.
Again, Brigham Young taught, “The birth of the Savior was as natural as are the births of our children; it was the result of natural action. He partook of flesh and blood - was begotten of his Father, as we are of our fathers.”
3. Salvation through faith is not enough.
Salvation comes through belief in the Mormon church, baptism by immersion, good works, and keeping the commandments of God.
As Brigham Young wrote, “Some of our old traditions teach us that a man guilty of atrocious and murderous acts may savingly repent on the scaffold; and upon his execution will hear the expression. “Bless God! He has gone to heaven, to be crowned in glory, through the all-redeeming merits of Christ the Lord!” This is all nonsense. Such a character will never see heaven.”
And he also wrote: “There is not a man or woman, who violates the covenant made with their God, that will not be required to pay the debt. The blood of Christ will never wipe that out, your own blood must atone for it”
4. Rascism
The Book of Moses records that Cain, the first murderer, was the progenitor of the black race; his black skin being a curse by God. For years, Mormons avoided missionary work towards blacks. Up until 1978, they were denied all blessings and privileges of priesthood. The Indians, likewise, were said to be cursed with dark skin as a punishment for their forefathers misdeeds.
5. Jesus
According to their beliefs, Jesus was Satan’s spirit brother. They also believe that Jesus was a polygamist, married to “Mary and Martha, and the other Mary” and had children with them, “whereby he could see his seed, before he was crucified.” (From Journal of Discourse 4:259 and 2:82).
6. All will be saved. No hell.
“Mormons believe in universal salvation that all men will be saved, but each one in his own order” ~Mr. Evans, a Mormon apostle and spokesman.
Jared Williams
