Why?
Just another opinion. Why is this any different than any other website and why should I care? Valid questions. The three-fold purpose of Counter-Top is to:
1) Spread the good news of Christ, and Him crucified
2) Encourage the believers of Christ and
3) “...to take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ.” ~2 Corinthians 10:5
We write because we see a need. We see a world in search of the truth. Some say there is no truth that we can really know, so do not impose what you think of as “truth” upon others. My question in return to that is, if truth is subjective, does that not make truth an opinion, and not a fact? No. There is a “Truth” out there, we may never know with absolute certainty what that truth is, but that should not keep us from having faith...
For faith is not just for the “religious”, but faith is used daily by everyone under the sun, if simply for the fact that we believe that the sun will rise tomorrow because it always has in the past. The sun may not, we have no absolute assurances of that, but we firmly believe that it will. If our senses can deceive us, that chair may not actually exist. Who knows, it’s possible. But if you did not believe that chair to exist, you would not be sitting in it. Faith is an integral part of everyday life, and as such what you believe makes all the difference in the world.
This is why we write, because we find it important what you put your faith in. There is also a lot of misconceptions that we have found commonplace that we would like to try to dispel. A lot of questions that we would like to try to get answered.
I will not hide the fact. This is a Christian publication, but we hope it will be of great use to you no matter who you are. We would like to answer the questions you may have about Christianity. What makes Christianity different? How can the Bible possibly be accurate? If there is a God, why would He allow such pain and suffering into His world? Why is it soo important that I believe in Him alone? and What exactly is Christianity? Because I have met many jerks who say they are Christians, and let me tell you, if that is Christianity, then I want no part of it!
We wish to explain this and what else is out there, other religions, alternative beliefs, theories and propositions, so that when you come upon them you will be prepared; understanding what it is and the implications of each idea. For ideas have consequences. Bad ideas have bad consequences, likewise good ideas have good consequences. Why? Because when you put your faith in an idea, your actions will follow your beliefs and your character will follow your actions. You find pleasure in that which you spend your time in and if your time and actions are dependent upon what you put your faith in, then the ideas you put your faith in will define who you are. What you believe or do not believe makes all the difference in the world. That is why we write.
